Chat Expressions are optional abbreviations or acronyms that are defined by the Instructor. The Chat Expressions appear in a pull-down menu beneath the Message area of the Chat Room window. Users can pick one of the selections from the Chat Expressions pull-down menu, and the selection is posted as an instant Chat message.
To access:
1. Go to the Chat Room.
2. If the Instructor has created any Chat Expressions for the course, they will appear in a pull-down menu labeled Chat Expressions. The pull-down menu is located beneath the Message area. Click a selection from the pull-down menu, then click the Send button.
3. The selection is posted as a Chat Message in the upper portion of the page.
Note:
● In the Chat Expressions pull-down menu, both the Term and Definition appear (e.g., CWYL = "Chat With You Later"). However, when a Chat Expression is selected and posted as a Chat message, only the Term appears (e.g., CWYL).
● If you enter text in the Message area and select a Chat Expression in the Chat Room, only the Chat Expression is posted (the Chat Expression is posted by itself).
