Using Online Help

To access Online Help: After you have logged on, click Help at the top right corner of any page. Help appears in a pop-up window on top of the page that you are viewing.

Learner Help provides step-by-step procedures for taking courses and participating in learning events. Refer to the Learner Overview page of Help for a summary of Learner activities.

Site Customization: Pages on your site are customizable by the Site Administrator. The links, labels, and functions described in Help are based on the default settings that are originally shipped with the LearningServer application.

Add-On Modules: Some features described in Help must be purchased separately and may not be included in your learning site. Add-On features are indicated by an asterisk (*).

Contact your Instructor if you have a question about whether a given feature applies to your site.

To navigate within Help: Online Help uses a two-frame structure, with tabs for the Table of Contents, Index, and Search features in the left frame (the navigation frame), and the actual Help text in the right frame. In the left navigation frame, use the tabs described below to access three help routes:

Help Routes

Contents

Displays an expandable Table of Contents. Click a "book" icon to display topics within a given section.

·      A closed book indicates un-opened sub-topics.

·      An open book indicates that all the sub-topics within the section are displayed.

·      Click a Help page icon (indicated by a question mark) to view the information for that topic.

The major sections within Help are organized according to the default selections that appear in the top navigation bar: Home page, My Learning, and Learning Catalog. (Note: The selections in the navigation bar can be tailored for your learning site by the Site Administrator.)

Index

Displays a full list of Help subjects.

·      Scroll down the Index list to view subjects.

·      Type a keyword or string of characters in the text box to go to a point in the Index (example: Type the letter 'S' to go to the 'S' section of the Index.)

Search

Allows you to search by a word or phrase that you type into the Search field.

·      A Search field appears at the top of the left frame when you click the Search tab.

·      A second Search field appears at all times above the Help text in the banner above the right frame.

·      After entering text in either Search field, click the Go button or hit Enter on your keyboard. All topics that contain the text you entered in the Search field will appear in the left frame.
