Access and Navigation:
Go to Chat through the Course Outline:
1. Open a course and check the Course Outline on the left side of the page.
● To open a course, go to My Learning / View Courses and Events in the top navigation bar, then click a course title.
2. Check if a link to Chat appears beneath any of the lessons or modules in the Course Outline.
● A link to Chat appears if Chat is open (at least one message has already been posted).
● Note: If you wish to post the first Chat message, go to Chat through the Chat Summary page (see the second access method described below).
3. Click the Chat link for the desired lesson or module. The Chat Room window appears.

Go to Chat through the Chat Summary page:
1. If enabled, click Collaboration in the top navigation bar, then click Chat.
2. Pick a course:
● To search for a course, enter text in the Search field, then click the green arrow button or hit Enter on your keyboard. The program searches both the Course Code and the Course Title.
● To list all courses, click the Find All button. Course titles appear in the Course pull-down menu. Click a course title.
3. The Chat Summary page appears. Enter chat for the desired lesson:
● Lessons of the course are listed on the left side of the page. To enter Chat for a particular lesson, click the button labeled either Begin Chat or Go to Chat on the right side of the page.
● If no Chat messages have been posted for the lesson, the button is labeled Begin Chat. If another user has already posted a Chat message, the button is labeled Go to Chat. Either button leads to the Chat Room.
Note:
● If desired, the Instructor can set up Chat so that Learners can access Chat for a given lesson only after the Instructor has posted the first message. An Instructor may remove Learner access to the Chat Summary page, since Learners can post the first Chat message for any lesson in the course from this page.
● If your access to the Chat Summary page has been removed, either the Collaboration menu does not appear or the Chat selection within the menu does not appear. You must instead go to Chat through the Course Outline. A link to Chat will appear only after the Instructor has posted the first message.
