To access:
● Some courses may have exams that are built-in to the content of the course; as you click the Next button to move from page to page, you will come across exams along with the course material. If you see a built-in exam, follow the instructions that are provided with the exam.
● For other courses and events, there may be add-on exams. You may need to click a separate link to the exam through the Course Outline in the Table of Contents. When you click the link, you will see an Exam Instructions page; from the Instructions page, you can click a button labeled Continue to launch the exam. If you see an add-on exam, refer to the descriptions and instructions below.
● The types of questions and method of scoring depend on the design of the course. When you have completed the course (no matter what types of exams were included), your score will be reported in the Grade Book.
For an add-on exam that you access through the Course Outline:
Exam Types:
● Exam or Post Exam: If you pass this exam and you have fulfilled all other requirements for the course (e.g., visited all lessons and passed any other exams), you will be automatically marked as Complete.
● Practice Exam: You can take a Practice Exam as many times as you wish and the score is not stored in the database. The Instructor will not be able to see your results.
● Test Out: If you pass a Test Out exam, you will be automatically marked as Completed in the course. A Test Out exam will be tied to the first lesson or module of the course.
● Pre Exam: This exam applies to courses with more than one lesson. If you pass a Pre Exam, you will be allowed to proceed to the next lesson in the course. A Pre Exam will ordinarily be tied to the first lesson in the course, although you may see a Pre Exam for any lesson.
Question Types:
● You may see Yes/No, True/False, Multiple Choice, Fill in the Blank, and Essay question types. Your response to an essay question is limited to 4000 characters.
● If your exam does not include Essay questions, your score will be available immediately after you submit the exam.
● If your exam includes one or more Essay questions, you will see the message "Exam submitted for evaluation" when you submit the exam. The Instructor must review and grade the Essay question manually. When the grading is completed, your score will appear in the Grade Book.
Other Exam Features:
● Your Instructor can design the exam to include a number of other features, including:
● A limit on the number of times you can re-take the exam (number of attempts)
● A time limit (a timer will appear in the top right corner of your exam page)
● Questions that may be shuffled or changed with every attempt at the exam.
● A limit on the dates when the exam is available (with a specified Start Date and End Date)
