Description:
● The Lesson Summary page is only accessible through the Discussion selection in the Collaboration menu in the top navigation bar. Depending on the settings for your site, the Collaboration menu and Discussion selection may or may not be enabled. (For more information, see Note at the end of this topic.)
● The Lesson Summary page allows you to go to Discussion for any lesson or module in the course. The Lesson Summary page also displays a table of the number of Total Posts, Last Posted Date (the date and time of the most recent posting), and the Number of Posts in the last three days.
Access and Navigation:
1. In the Collaboration menu in the top navigation bar, click the Discussion link (if the menu and link are enabled).
2. Pick a course:
● To search for a course, enter text in the Search field, then click the green arrow button or hit Enter on your keyboard. The program searches both the Course Code and the Course Title.
● To list all courses, click the Find All button. Course titles appear in the Course pull-down menu. Click a course title.
3. Pick a lesson:
● The lessons or modules for the course appear in the Lesson Name column. Click the desired lesson.
4. The View Threads page appears.
● Click the text New Thread in the header row to start a new Discussion Thread.
● Click the Subject Line of an existing Thread (the text beside the folder icon) to view the Details page, which displays the full text of messages within the Thread.
Note:
● An Instructor who wishes to control when Discussion is open for a given lesson may block Learner access to the Lesson Summary page, since Learners can post the first Discussion message for any lesson in the course from this page.
● To block access to the Lesson Summary page, the Instructor will remove the Collaboration menu and/or the Discussion selection within the menu for your site. If the Lesson Summary page is not available for Learners, only the Instructor can post the first Discussion message for a given lesson. A Discussion link for the lesson then appears in the Course Outline, and Learners can then participate after the Instructor has initiated Discussion for the lesson.
