Description:
● The View Threads page displays a folder for each existing Discussion Thread; click the Subject Line next to a folder to view the full text of messages within the Thread.
● You can also start a new Thread by clicking New Thread in the header row at the top of the page.
● A Search field at the top of the page allows you to search for specific text within Discussion messages.
Access and Navigation:
Go to Discussion from the Course Outline:
1. Open a course and check the Course Outline on the left side of the page.
● To open a course: Click My Learning / View Courses and Events in the navigation bar, then click the title of the course.
2. Check if a link to Discussion appears beneath any of the lessons or modules in the Course Outline.
● A link to Discussion appears only if Discussion is open (at least one message has already been posted).
o Note: If you wish to post the first Discussion message for the lesson or module, go to the Collaboration menu in the top navigation bar and click the Discussion link (see second access method described below
3. The View Threads page appears.
● If a plus sign (+) appears next to a folder, click the plus sign (+) to expand the folder. A row appears for each reply to the initial message in the thread, along with the name of the sender and date and time of the reply.
● To start a new Discussion Thread, click the text New Thread in the header row.
● To view an existing Thread, click the Subject Line of the Thread or any reply within the Thread. The Details page appears (beginning with the first message in the Thread).

Go to the Lesson Summary page:
1. In the Collaboration menu in the top navigation bar, click the Discussion link (if the menu and link are enabled).
2. Pick a course:
● To search for a course, enter text in the Search field, then click the green arrow button or hit Enter on your keyboard. The program searches both the Course Code and the Course Title.
● To list all courses, click the Find All button. Course titles appear in the Course pull-down menu. Click a course title.
3. Pick a lesson:
● The lessons or modules for the course appear in the Lesson Name column. Click the desired lesson.
4. The View Threads page appears.
● If a plus sign (+) appears next to a folder, click the plus sign (+) to expand the folder. A row appears for each reply to the initial message in the thread, along with the name of the sender and date and time of the reply.
● To start a new Discussion Thread, click the text New Thread in the header row.
● To view an existing Thread, click the Subject Line of the Thread or any reply within the Thread. The Details page appears (beginning with the first message in the Thread).
Discussion Folders:
● Each folder icon indicates a Discussion Thread. The Subject line for each thread appears next to the folder. A green dot indicates an un-read message.
● Beside each folder, the page includes a count of the number of replies within the Thread, the name of the Originator of the Thread, the Date/Time Created, and the Last Post (the date/time of the most recent reply in the Thread and the name of the submitter).
● A plus-sign (+) to the left of a folder indicates that there are reply messages within the Thread. Click the plus-sign (+) to expand the folder. For each reply, the View Threads page includes the Subject line, date/time submitted, and name of the submitter.
Actions:
● To view the Subject line of Discussion messages:
o A plus-sign (+) to the left of a folder indicates that there are reply messages within a Thread. Click the plus-sign (+) to expand the folder.
o For each reply, the View Threads page includes the Subject line, date/time submitted, and name of the submitter.
● To view the full text of Discussion messages:
o Click the Subject line of the Thread or any reply within the Thread. The Details page appears (beginning with the first message in the Thread). Scroll down the Details page to view the full text of messages. To return to the View Threads page, click the View Threads link at the top-right side of the Details page.
● To start a new Thread:
o Click the text New Thread in the header row that appears immediately beneath the Search field.
● To sort the display of Threads:
o Click the pull-down menu labeled Sort Initial Thread By: at the top-right side of the page. You can sort Threads according to Date Posted, Subject and Author.
● To search for text within a Thread:
o Enter text in the Search field at the top of the page, then click the green arrow button or hit the Enter key on your keyboard. The program displays a list of Threads that contain your search term.
o If a folder appears with a plus-sign (+) click the plus-sign to expand the folder. The Subject lines of the messages that contain your search term appear, as well as the Subject lines of replies to those messages.
o To display the full text of a message, click the Subject line next to the folder, or the Subject line of any reply within the folder. The Details page appears. To return to the View Threads page, click the View Threads link at the top-right side of the Details page.
o Note: If a search term is found more than once within a single Thread, the program displays the same folder and Subject line multiple times (once for each time your search Term appears in the Thread). Each folder contains a different message that contains our search term.
