Access and Navigation
Go to Discussion through the Course Outline:
1. Open a course and view the Course Outline on the left side of the page.
● To open a course, go to My Learning / View Courses and Events in the top navigation bar, then click a course title.
2. Check if a link to Discussion appears beneath any of the lessons or modules in the Course Outline.
● A Discussion link appears only if Discussion is open (at least one message has already been posted).
● Note: If you wish to post the first Discussion message for the lesson or module, go to Discussion through the Lesson Summary page (see the second access method described below).
3. Click the Discussion link for the desired lesson or module.
4. The View Threads page appears.
● Click the text New Thread in the header row to start a new Discussion Thread.
● Click the subject of an existing Thread (the text beside the folder icon) to view the Details page, which displays the full text of messages within the Thread.

Go to Discussion through the Lesson Summary page:
1. If enabled,
click Collaboration in the top
navigation bar, then click Discussion.
The Lesson
Summary page appears.
The Lesson Summary page allows you to go to Discussion for any lesson or
module in the course.
2. Pick a course:
● To search for a course, enter text in the Search field, then click the green arrow button or hit Enter on your keyboard. The program searches both the Course Code and the Course Title.
● To list all courses, click the Find All button. Course titles appear in the Course pull-down menu. Click a course title.
3. Pick a lesson:
● The lessons or modules for the course appear in the Lesson Name column. Click the desired lesson.
4. The View Threads page appears.
● Click the text New Thread in the header row to start a new Discussion Thread.
● Click the subject of an existing Thread (the text beside the folder icon) to view the Details page, which displays the full text of messages within the Thread.
Note:
● If desired, the Instructor can set up Discussion so that Learners can access Discussion for a given lesson only after the Instructor has posted the first message. An Instructor may remove Learner access to the Lesson Summary page, since Learners can post the first Discussion message for any lesson in the course from this page.
● If your access to the Lesson Summary page has been removed, either the Collaboration menu does not appear or the Discussion selection within the menu does not appear. You must instead access Discussion through the Course Outline. A link to Discussion will appear only after the Instructor has posted the first message.
