About Surveys

Your instructor may include a survey with your course or event. If there is a survey, a link labeled Survey appears in large text at the bottom of the Course Outline area on the left side of the page.

You can access the survey only after you have fulfilled all the requirements for completion for the course or event (for example, you have visited all lessons and passed all exams in a course).

If you click the Survey link before you have met the requirements for completion, you will see the following message:

Access is denied. You must complete all prior course content before you can take the survey.

Optional vs. Required Surveys:

The survey may be optional, or you may be required to complete the survey either to print a certificate or to marked as complete in the course or event.

If the survey is optional: You do not need to submit the survey in order to be marked as Complete or to print a Certificate.

o       If you have completed the course or event, but have not yet submitted the survey, the course or event moves to the Completed tab of the My Learning page.

o       If a Certificate is offered, the text Print Certificate appears in the Certificate column of the Completed tab of the My Learning page and in the Grade Book. Click the text Print Certificate to access the Certificate.

If the survey is required to print a Certificate: You do not need to submit the survey in order to be marked as Complete in the course or event.  However, you cannot print a Certificate until you submit the survey.

o       If you have completed the course or event, but have not yet submitted the survey, the text Survey Pending appears in the Certificate column on the Completed tab of the My Learning page as well as in the Certificate column of the Grade Book.

o       To submit the survey, click the text Survey Pending (either on the Completed tab of the My Learning page or in the Grade Book). Once the survey is submitted, the text Survey Pending changes to Print Certificate. Click the text Print Certificate to print your Certificate.

If the survey is required for completion: You must submit the survey before you can be marked as Complete in the course or event.

o       If you have met all the requirements for completion (for example, you have visited all lessons and passed all exams in a course), but have not yet submitted the survey, the course or event remains on the Current tab of the My Learning page. On the My Learning page and in the Grade Book, a special status icon () represents a status of Survey Pending. (Roll your mouse over the icon to see the description.)

o       The text Survey Pending appears in the Availability column of the Current tab of the My Learning page and in the Certificate column of the Grade Book.

o       To submit the survey, click the text Survey Pending (either on the Current tab of the My Learning page or in the Grade Book). Once the survey is submitted, the text Survey Pending changes to Print Certificate. Click the text Print Certificate to print your Certificate.

Anonymous vs. Non-Anonymous Surveys:

When the Survey page opens, a message at the top of the survey page will tell you whether the survey is Anonymous or Non-Anonymous.

With an Anonymous survey, the Instructor DOES NOT see the names of individual Learners when reviewing Learner responses.

With a Non-Anonymous survey, the Instructor CAN see individual Learner names when reviewing responses.
