To access: Click My Learning / View Courses and Events in the navigation bar.
When you click View Courses and Events, a page with the heading My Learning appears. (Note: Online Help will refer to this page as the My Learning page.)
The My Learning page has three tabs: Current, Completed, and Expired.
● The Current tab displays the titles of courses and events that you have not yet completed.
● If you complete a course or event, the title moves to the Completed tab.
● If a course has a time limit, the title moves to the Expired tab once the time limit has passed.
● If an event has gone several days past the End Date (the default value is 3 days) the event reaches its Expiration Date and the title moves to the Expired tab.
Note:
● If you do not see the course or event title that you are looking for, check all three tabs (Current, Completed, and Expired).
Details for each tab are provided below:
CURRENT tab:
● The Current tab displays the titles of courses and events that you have not yet completed.
● If a course or event has been assigned to a Learning Category, the title will be listed under a heading with the Category name.
● If a course has not been assigned to any Learning Category, the title will be listed under the heading Online Training.
● If an event has not been assigned to any Learning Category, the title will be listed under the heading Event Training.
Column Descriptions:
● Status
In the Status column, a graphic symbol indicates your status in a course or event. Roll your mouse over any symbol to see a description of that symbol.
Graphic symbol descriptions:
= Not
Started
= In
Progress
= Survey
Pending (you must complete a survey in order
to complete the course or event)
= Waitlisted (for an event)
= Not
Started (for course or event that has a prerequisite)
For
a course, the status will be either Not
Started or In Progress.
o Click a course title on the Current tab to begin a course; your status will change from Not Started to In Progress.
o As soon as you have completed the course, the title of the course will appear on the Completed tab of the My Learning page.
For an event, the status will be Not Started or Waitlisted.
o Click an event title on the Current tab to view information for that event.
o Until you have completed the event, your status will remain listed as Not Started.
• Note: The only exception is if the event has an exam with an Essay question. If you have submitted the exam, your status is listed as In Progress until the essay is graded by the Instructor.
o If you are Waitlisted for an event, the event is full and is closed for further enrollment until an opening occurs.
• If an opening does occur, you will be automatically scheduled for the event and the status will change to Not Started. You will receive an e-mail to notify you that you are scheduled for the event.
Note:
• After you have completed the event, the title of the event remains on the Current tab for a certain number of days (the default value is 3 days). This is to give you additional time to complete any exams or surveys that may be tied to the event.
• Once 3 days (or the number of days chosen by the Administrator) after the End Date of the event has passed, the event expires and the title moves to the Expired tab.
● Title
o Click a course title to open a course. See To Access a Course in this section of Help for instructions on navigating within a course.
o Click an event title to get details on when and where the activity will take place.
● Type
o For all courses, the Type is listed as Online.
o For events, the Type can be one of the following: Seminar, Class, Live Online Event, Media-Based, or External/Other.
• Seminars and Classes are in-person activities.
• A Live Online event will include a link for a web conference at a specific date and time.
• A Media-Based event refers to learning material that can be available to you in any number of formats - for example, a text, video, or CD. You will be given the location where you can obtain the materials.
• External / Other events can indicate your participation in an event outside of the LearningServer application, or can be an event that does not fall within one of the other event categories listed above.
● Availability
o For a course: Availability is listed as Open if there is no restriction on the dates on which the course is offered. You may take the course at any time.
o For a course: If the course is only offered during a specific time period, the dates of availability will be listed.
o For an event: All events have a specific Start Date and End Date that appear in the Availability column. If the event occurs on one day only, a single date will be listed.
o For a course or event: Some Instructors
may choose to enroll Learners with a specific Required By Date (the date
by which the Learner should be Complete).
Note:
• Depending on the settings chosen by the Administrator for your site, the Required By Date may or may not be enforced.
• If the Required By Date is enforced, the title moves to the Expired tab at the end of the Required By Date. Otherwise the Required By Date is a suggested date only, and the course remains on the Current tab after the Required By Date has passed.
• Check with your Instructor if you are unsure if the Required By Date will be enforced.
o For a course or event: If the text
Survey Pending appears in the
Availability column, then you are required to submit a survey
before you are listed as Completed in the course or event.
Note:
• To submit the survey, click the course title to open the course, then click the link to the survey at the bottom of the course window.
• Alternatively, you can go to the Learner Grade Book and click the Survey Pending link next to the course title.
• Once you submit the Survey, the course moves to the Completed tab.
COMPLETED tab:
As soon as you have completed a course or event, the title of that course or event moves from the Current tab of the My Learning page to the Completed tab.
On the Completed tab:
● Courses will be listed under the heading Online Training.
● Events
will be listed under the heading Event
Training.
● Start Date and End Date
o Click the calendar image next to the Start Date and End Date fields to enter a date. The program will display only those courses that you have completed within your specified date range. Click the Submit button to generate the list. To return to the full list of course and events, click the Completed tab.
● Export
o The Export button allows you to create a PDF file that serves as a transcript of your completed courses and events. The PDF contains the same information that you see on the Completed tab online.
● Reviewing course material or event information:
o Even after you have been marked as Completed, you can still click a course or event title to review course material or the information for an event. You will not be able to retake any exams or submit surveys (if offered).
● Certificates
o If your organization offers Certificates, a Print Certificate link appears in the Certificate column. Note: The Grade Book also includes a Print Certificate link for you to print your Certificate.
o Your Instructor may require you to submit a Survey before you can print a Certificate. If so, a link labeled Survey Pending appears in the Certificate column. Click the link to submit the Survey. The next time you visit the Completed tab, the link changes to Print Certificate. Note: The Grade Book also includes a Survey Pending link for you to submit the Survey.
EXPIRED tab:
● For a course: If the course has a time limit with a specific End Date and the course is not completed as of midnight on the End Date, then the course moves to the Expired tab.
● For an event: Events remain on the
Current tab for a certain number
of days after the End Date (the default value is three days, although
the number of days can be changed by the Site Administrator). After three
days (or the number of days chosen by the Site Administrator), the event
moves to the Expired tab.
An event remains on the Current
tab for a certain period after the End Date in order to allow you to take
any exams or surveys that the Instructor has created. The program blocks
Learners from accessing exams and surveys from either the Completed
tab or the Expired tab. You therefore
have a brief "time window" after the End Date of an event to
submit an exam or survey from the Current
tab.
● For a course or event: Some Instructors may choose to enroll Learners with a specific Required By Date (the date by which the Learner should be Complete). Depending on the settings chosen by the Administrator for your site, the Required By Date may or may not be enforced.
o If the Required By Date is enforced, the title moves to the Expired tab at the end of the Required By Date. Otherwise the Required By Date is a suggested date only, and the course remains on the Current tab after the Required By Date has passed.
o Check with your Instructor if you are unsure if the Required By Date will be enforced.
