● Chat is available for courses only and not for learning events.
● There is a separate Chat Room available for each lesson or module of a course. If a course has sub-topics within a lesson, Chat is available for the entire lesson only, and not for the individual sub-topics.
● The Chat Room window displays messages that have been posted during your Chat session, and allows you to submit new messages. Up to 4,000 characters (including spaces) are allowed per message. If desired, you can submit Chat messages with attached documents and with a choice of font color. Instructors can also create Chat Expressions, which are abbreviations or acronyms that users can choose from a pick-list in the Chat Room window.
● A View History link from the Chat Room window allows you to view every Chat message that has been submitted for a lesson or module, along with the date and time that the message was posted.
● The Chat Summary page provides information for each lesson or module on the number of Total Posts, Participants, Active Users, and dates of first and last Post).

● Learners,
Instructors, and Administrators each have access to Chat for a given course.
Administrators and Instructors can participate in Chat and can also modify
and delete Chat messages.
